Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo
Today's topic was "Why are they good at sports?" which draw interest of those who are not good at sports. We had many participants of 66 students which took two class room space.
Student learnt about "10,000hours law". Practice does not disappoint the results. It is proven that if you have enough practice, you will have a good result. Dr.Kudo explained characteristics of those who became top ranking players have "good position" with "elastic motion and no waste motion" ="know how to relax", "good visual line" by experimental comparison between top ranking players and who are not. If you pay attention to each skills (Posture → Rhythm → Spatial Perception → Decision Making) and improve them, you will be good at sports. Most impressive information was top ranking players know how to relax at important occasion. Top ranking player can do that because of accumulation of practice in many years. Students learnt importance of daily efforts.
After the lecture, students filled in their portfolio what they have learnt.
