2018.07.13
July 13 (Friday) 17:30-19:00/ Information Room 1 ”Analyze Brain, Life, Society based on calculus”
LecturerAssociate Professor D.Eng.Kiyoshi Kotani …Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo
Topic of the lecture was "Analyze Brain, Life, Society based on calculus”. I was not good at mathematics and struggled with infinitesimal calculus in high school time. However I knew it is the foundation of various phenomena. Today's lecture was sophisticated content that went far beyond. Prof. Kotani explained how calculus is used to analyze celestial movement and molecular motion, PET inspection in medical field, mechanisms of nerve cells. Content was too advanced however students understood that calculus is applied in society, at the same time, many do not function without calculus. Most of the participants were 1st grade. They have not learned calculus. They probably could not understand most of the parts. However they all experienced excellent lecture of Tokyo University. |
