On January 22,2023, we held an exchange meeting to discuss waste management issues with thestudents from The University of the South Pacific who had come to Japan forJENESYS program at International Center of Environmental Technology Transfer.
Participatedstudents said, "Hearing the real opinions of the local people made merethink what we can do to prevent global warming. " "I enjoyed discussing about theenvironment." I enjoyed talking with my group of university students aboutour hobbies and each other's countries. I want to study English harder toincrease my enjoyment and learning."
Discussing environmental issues not onlyfrom the perspective of Japan, but also from the perspective of other countriesprovided an opportunity to reconsider how serious the current situation is andwhat we can do to solve. It was an opportunity to learn about the traditionalculture of the South Pacific countries and to spend meaningful time not only onthe environment but also on cross-cultural exchange.
